Some of us on high school |
Our peer group was created in the third year in high school, in 2006, when we were more or less 14. Until now we´ve seen some changes inside (new people came and another went out). At present we are a group of about 13 members.
In this year everything change a lot. Most of us left high school and we are at university making different studies (Psychology, Computer sciences, Spanish Philology, Medicine, Aeronautical Engineering, Teaching...), while few friends are still at school.
Distances are longer and it is more difficult to see us and keep in touch as we did in the past... but it is not impossible. That´s why we try to meet as many times as we can , and social networks help us not to lose contact.
We usually spend time in a house or we go to the park , have dinner out, go to the pool in summer and sometimes we visit some clubs at nights.
We don´t go always all together , and we have got more confidence with ones than with others, as in all the peers groups.
Girls on our graduation |
I need to point out that in my group, as in a primary´s classes, there is a thin line that separate all of us in two little groups : guys and girls. Maybe it can sound a little bit childish, but even being all good friends, we feel more confidence with people with the same gender.
Even though there are people inside our group (boys and girls) with more facility to lead and steer the group. That people usually is very sociable and can take the group confidence easily. They are who used to join us together at weekends. I must left clear that my peer group is not like a dictatorship; it is only that some of us organize better some things than others, but always respecting the rest of the members opinions.
I think my group is very ordinary, so it is normal and natural that we have arguments about serious and stupid things. When it happens the group takes different attitudes like:
- Not talk about it when the affected people are present.
- Try to mediate the problem.
- Ignore the problem.
- Force to solve it.
Spanishes, Argentinas, Colombians, Americans and Israelis in Italy |
We are very sportive, but in different branches like football, basketball, volleyball, dance and martial arts. We also have got the smart and womanizer, ,the reserved, the loving one, the mature, the hard worker, the organizer, the “party goer”, the funny, the competitive, the joker...
My peer-group has the particularity that some of us were living in another country before Spain, so we have a mixture of cultures from Argentina, Colombia, Israel, USA,... and of course Spain.
We are just as our personality is and maybe, if we are still friends is because we know how to treat us without lies, jealousy or hate feelings and having a best relation between us combining our differences and making the confidence grows.
I like your peer group =)
